Camping Tips is an independent website about camping skills, trip preparation and outdoor safety. We publish guides for beginner and occasional campers, families and car campers, with a focus on practical tips for planning trips, setting up camp, handling weather, food and water, and staying safe outdoors.

Camping Tips was founded in 2026 and is run by a small, independent editorial team. We are an online-only publication. We are not owned by, and do not work on behalf of, any manufacturer, installer, brand or retailer, and no company reviews or approves our guides before they are published.
What we cover
Our guides are organized into these sections: Camping for Beginners, Camping Skills, Camping by Conditions, Camping by Trip Type, Camping Safety, Camping Food and Comfort and Camping Problems and Fixes. Each guide explains what matters for a given situation, which trade-offs to expect and where its advice stops.
How we research
Our content is written by the Camping Tips editorial team. We base our guides on official guidance from land and public health agencies such as the National Park Service, the USDA Forest Service, the National Weather Service and the CDC, the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and manufacturer instructions for equipment, and we link to the source when a guide states a figure or a safety point.
We are clear about the limits of our work. Unless an article explicitly describes our own use of a product, our guides are research-based and are not hands-on product tests. We do not invent test results, ratings or statistics. Read our Editorial Policy for details.
Safety and scope
Rules on campfires, food storage and camping vary by location and season, so we encourage you to check the current rules and forecasts for where you are going. Our first aid and emergency content is not a substitute for training, medical care or emergency services. Never use fuel-burning heaters, stoves or grills inside a tent or vehicle.
